Hello Bakery Fans...
Yes, it is possible...I am speechless, I really am. Before you check to see if clocks have stopped and hell has indeed frozen over let me be the first to admit I was rendered shocked AND speechless last night.

We were invited to compete against many of Atlanta's best bakeries in a cake contest last night benefitting the 126th Anniversary of the Grant Park Conservatory. Your redneck baker here mixed and mingled with about 17 of Buckhead and Midtown and Downtown's Finest confectionary leaders. And while looking all smart and professional in their crisp, white chef coats and serious demeanor, I had my big poofy hair, tacky, sassy bakery t-shirt , big ol' Colgate Smile and my beloved Crocs on - we battled in front of a 3-Judge panel for Best Tasting, Best Overall and Best Visual.

You could have knocked me over with a feather last night Forsyth... WE WON BEST TASTING CAKE for our Chocolate Density Cake!!! When they announced Laughing Elephant as the winner I just stood there with my mouth hanging open like a gaping fish! I tried not to cry too hard so I wouldn't look like Tammy Faye Bakker. But I was shocked, surprised and humbled. Really humbled.

I mean most of you know we are barely 6 months old and so new and novice to this biz that we still have that "new car smell." I am just a corporate refugee and retired technology geek masquerading as a "baker." I had no idea anybody thought this was THAT good. But the compliments were flooding in last night from attendees, noted "foodies" in Atlanta and other afficianados in the area. Maybe my in-laws are wrong...we can do this!! <grin>

So - for those of you who have had our chocolate cake and cupcakes and mini cakes...consider yourself "early adopters" and first on your block to know what Atlanta has found out...we sure can cook up here in Forsyth!

Catch us at 5:45 am (Oh My) 6:05 am and 7:05 am on "Better Mornings Atlanta" on WGCL - 46, the CBS affiliate here locally.We will be live from Midtown at the LIT Restaurant getting ready for the big "Take the Cake" contest benefiting the 125th anniversary of Grant Park.

We will be showing off our "Chocolate Density Cake" and also previewing our awesome "Duck Cake" (yes, it has a duck on it) in celebration of Grant Park. We are invited along with 20 other local bakeries competing for the best and most innovative cake. (We aren't sure about the "innovative" part as plopping a plastic mallard on a cake is hardly revolutionary) However, the "taste" part is no problem at all.

Be ready to laugh and point at your TV Monday morning - it will be early and we will be in Midtown! (Those of you who know us well will see the humor in that sentence alone!!!)

One more thing - get your Valentine Orders in soon... Cupid will be busy in the ovens!!
