Throw on a jacket and come on down...
Hello Bakery Fans - It sure is nice out these days and what a perfect time to grab a light jacket and come have
some coffee and doughnuts??!
We are so humbled and often surprised when so many of you come in to tell us how
good our word of mouth is and how friends and neighbors of yours rave about us. Please know that it is by far the best blessing
we could have. No amount of advertising spend could replace the endorsement of the community and your patronage. As we close
in on nearly 2 months of operation (can you believe it?) we are so grateful for the feedback. We thrive on it.
Hello
to the Parents of our beloved Pinecrest Academy and we hope you enjoyed the dessert plates we made for you for your event
last night. It sure was good to be back on campus and we hope you enjoyed some sugary treats for your couples dinner last
night. Tell us what you think!
Lastly - one month and counting to the first competition for Icon All-Stars Cheerleading!
We are pulling for you in this last grueling month of practice. (Carson is our Icon!) Hope you guys had fun at the Youth 2
lock-in at the gym Friday night. Sounds like no sleep was had by anyone but I'm sure you had a blast team-building all
night. Hope you enjoyed the Strawberry Daiquiri Cake.
See you this first week in October Forsyth!

Kahlua Koma and Gassy Concerns - Sounds Like a Saturday!
Hello Bakery Fans - First of all we want to send out best wishes and congrats to customer, Kelly for her wedding this weekend
in Gatlinburg, TN. The Rebel Baker was very proud to send Kelly off with a large Kahlua Cake and a Peach Cobbler as part of
her "Mountainside Reception." While making the awesome Kahlua Cake, The Rebel Baker found herself spending quality
time sniffing the Kahlua bottle and stirring the glaze! Wow - what an aroma! Nope, no sampling as I am a teetotaler and don't
drink anymore - but man, oh man did that Kahlua and chocolate combo smell good! Same goes for the "Kentucky Water"
Pecan Pie - a little Bourbon anyone? I love the smell of that too but it sure reminds me of a few bad dates I had in my single
days. (Kind of like how that "Polo" cologne reminds me of high school - ha ha)
Saturday was great and
thanks to all who came over both returning customers and new customers. But yes, we got an earfull about the lack of gas around
Forsyth County this weekend. (No, this has nothing to do with Mexican food.) We were alarmed ourselves driving home Saturday
night and seeing the closed gas stations with the little plastic bags on the gas pumps. (Question: when did the white plastic
"Thank You" bag on the gas pump handle become the universal symbol for "Gas Pump Not Working?") But I
digress...
Having 60 degree temperatures is a wonderful gift isn't it? I wish I could make The Elephant Kitchen
that cool sometimes...
See you next week! (Remember we are now closed on Monday too!)

New Products - New Hours! Welcome to Fall!
Hello Bakery Fans!
We are closed on Mondays now but boy are you going to be happy with what we are working on...
How
does Pumpkin Bread, PecanScotch Poundcake and "Kentucky Water" Pecan Pie Sound? Any fans of Kahlua? How about our
famous Carolina Cake with a more "adult" fudgey glaze called "Carolina Nights" sound? Not sure? You asked
for it - you got it; Sour Cream Poundcake!
These are just a few of our new rotations this fall. Yes, Pumpkin/Thanksgiving
Pie is also here. The Rebel Baker has been a busy gal diving into the family archives for new (well not "new" but
classic) recipes just in time for cooler temperatures. Going off rotation for a while are Biscotti, Cherry Pie, Brownie Bars
for a while.
Be looking for new flavors for order on the website and as always you can just call to see what we
have and what we can make for you. You never know - your new Fall favorite may be here just waiting for you to discover it.
Thanks Forsyth County again for your patronage and the laughs - see you this week!

Big Announcement on Hours and Your Opinions -
Hello Bakery Fans -
Thanks to all of you who called and emailed about hearing your favorite bakery mentioned on WGST
last Thursday. It's nice to know you heard it and said to yourself, "Hey, I know those people!" Thanks for another
great week last week and now its time to face the music, so to speak.
In order for us to keep up with supplies,
demand and chiefly - our health - we will be closed each Monday starting next Monday September 15th.
We will update both the website hours and also the sign up front. We have tried to give it our all 6 days a week and
80 hours or more but we need a full day for inventory, supplies shopping and also baking up for orders and reserves all week.
In addition, as most of you already know, we have two school aged children who could use some free time and the attention
of their parents. We will be adding hours on Saturday very soon so don't worry - you will see plenty of us outside of
Sunday and Monday when we will be closed.
Speaking of which, thanks again to all who have shared your opinions
this first month. Make sure you see some of your thoughts on our new page called "What You've Said" which has
the good and the constructive from your thoughts. We read all emails and discuss all calls. (Even the incredibly rude woman
who called me today, in fact, to ask about the popular Lemonade Pound Cake only to scream at me about the price and hang up
in my face after she howled at me about how she could make it herself and it would probably taste better.) Well,
I'll take that challenge but bet your bonnet I'll be much more polite than she was. Sheesh!!! Somebody needs a nap!
Orders are already starting to come in for Halloween and Thanksgiving. Probably not a bad idea to start thinking
about holiday fare and be looking for Spooky Treats and Tricks in our upcoming cake "Boo-Tique." (I am thinking
of busting out my 80's gear that I refuse to throw away as my costume.)
What's your costume?
